About Me
Hiya! I'm Heather and welcome to my blog! A Cleveland girl through and through that absolutely loves to cook. We live in Cleveland, Arlington/DC, St. Petersburg, Florida and absolutely love it down here!
I am a total homebody. My happy place is at home with my husband. He is my rock and always knows how to make me laugh. He is also very supportive of my blog because he is my number one taste tester.

Our dog's names are Gryffindor and Sirius. If you can’t tell, I am a huge Harry Potter nut and have read the entire series about four times.
I really don’t care for processed or fast food and try to make most of the meals we eat from scratch. Cooking is therapeutic for me. Nothing centers and calms me more than using my hands to make a meal from scratch for my loved ones. While cooking, you can most likely find me enjoying a tall glass of red wine and playing some good tunes. My collection mostly consists of rad 80's music, 90's rap, soul, and classic rock. I don't care too much for the new stuff.

I work full time as an Account Manager in the hospitality industry. I love my job. It is non-stop, crazy, rewarding, exhausting and often at times, it provides me with really funny stories to tell my family and friends.
My dream is to own a Bed & Breakfast. My grandparents did this for many years and I would love to follow in their footsteps.
Ina Garten and Martha Stewart are my absolute favorites. When I am stressed or down, I can put on an episode and they take me to my happy place.

I desperately want to learn how to make breads. Like rustic-crispy-on-the-outside-and-soft-on-the-inside bread… as well as croissants. Will someone (other than Meryl Streep in It’s Complicated) please teach me? *Update* I finally accomplished this and for the recipe, click here!
I graduated from Ohio University (the best school EVER) in Athens, Ohio and am a proud Bobcat. Actually, my first post ever on this blog was for a Beer Cheese Soup that I tried to duplicate from The Pub. Check out my lovely cell phone pictures. Can someone say “re-do”!?!?
You know how some people buy machines for their kitchen and they just sit in a cabinet? Well, I use every kitchen gadget in our house on a weekly basis. My food processor, Vitamix, juicer, immersion blender, espresso machine and Kitchen Aid are happy campers because they get their workout in all of the time.
Since starting this blog in February of 2013, I absolutely love how many friends and connections I have made through my little space on the web. I am incredibly grateful for every person that takes some time out of their day to stop by!
FAQ's
Can I use your recipes for my blog?
Of course! I am inspired by all of your blogs out there as well and often use the recipes of others. I kindly ask that you use your own pictures and words then provide a link back to my post.
What does the name of your blog mean?
I wanted to start a blog for a long time. When I was ready, I could not think of a name for the life of me! So I enlisted the help of my friend Cheryl and we started throwing around things that I like. I wanted a whimsical name that did not just limit this site to cooking.
I am obsessed with Harry Potter and have always had a slight infatuation with owls, so The Owl with the Goblet was born and I kind of just went with it!
What kind of camera do you use?
Prior to March 1st, 2014, I used a Canon PowerShot S100 12.1 MP. All posts March 1st, 2014 and after were taken with my Canon T3i 18MP DSLR. Most of the time I use my 50mm f/1.4 lens but I also sometimes use my 18-135mm f/3.5 lens.
I am constantly challenging myself to learn new things about my DSLR and shoot in manual mode 99% of the time.
Have you had any culinary training?
No. I am strictly a self-taught home cook. Growing up, food was always a very important part of my family and we are all very passionate about good food. However, I am always researching new cooking techniques and challenge myself to make each meal better then the last!
