Madison, Indiana

Last weekend my Mom and I made a quick trip to my Grandmother's house in Madison, Indiana.  She is staying with my Mom for a few weeks so we went down there to pick up some of her belongings.

My grandfather passed March 1, 2011 and we all miss him so much.  He was an avid art collector and truly had a unique ability to see the beauty in everything.  My grandparents ran a bed and breakfast for many years in a Carriage House that is behind their main house. I have the fondest memories of going down there to visit every summer to spend quality time in the charming city of historic Madison with my amazing grandparents.

While visiting, I took a few pictures and just wanted so share some the beauty that I found...

My grandfather's favorite flower was an iris and there was one white iris blooming in the middle of some tulips.  My grandmother did not plant it...

There is the Carriage House from behind the fence.

Her doorbell.  I love it.

This is an old copy of my grandfather's resume.  I thought it was so cute how he put his height and weight.  Check out his phone number; Adams 4-3942.

I just thought this was such a neat piece of his history so I decided to frame and hang it.

I also framed and hung some of the pictures I took.

We got a chance to visit my grandfather's grave.  He is truly missed but we have so many happy memories...

Like the this one of my grandparents on their 60th wedding anniversary.  I can't wait to visit again.

  1. Hi Heather. I just found this blog while searching for the Carriage House Bed and Breakfast in Madison. My wife and I had stayed there many years with our 2 smaller boys at the time. Your grandparents actually became a 3rd set of grandparents to my 2 sons. We have had so many fond memories when we stayed at the Inn. I see that Charles passes in 2001. I'm so sorry, he was a very gentle, warm, and very artistic man. Your grandmother would always make the best breakfasts for us. She would always contact us before we came down and see if we wanted our favorite in the morning. Then Charles would bring the paper in the morning and ring the bell. I was awake but my wife was a late sleeper. She would say " There's Chuck"
